Dr. Lewis Aptekar: Tips to Become a Professor


Dr. Lewis Aptekar, a retired Professor in Counselor Education, is a respected scholar and author who spent decades helping the world through his humanitarian efforts. He was a Senior Fulbright Specialist and Visiting Professor of Community Counseling at the Universidad Pedagógica Nacional, Francisco Morazán in Tegucigalpa, Honduras, in 2002 and he served as a visiting professor on multiple other occasions. Throughout his career, he worked in dozens of countries around the globe and touched thousands of lives.

After earning his Bachelor’s, Dr. Aptekar graduated with a Ph.D. in Educational Psychology from the University of Michigan. He then completed his Post-Doctoral Residency in Clinical Psychology. Attending graduate school and a post-doctoral residency is your next step, and you should hopefully have a heading once you’ve earned your first degree and spent time considering your career in teaching.
